In fact, her father said, she wanted the man who allegedly kept her tethered to a tree in the Un the Utah woods muzzled and forced to listen. Mitchell is accused of abducting Smart from her home in 2002. Smart said that during nine months of captivity, no 24-hour period passed without Mitchell raping her.

The producer, Robert Joel Halderman, allegedly told Letterman last month that he would disclose Letterman's dalliances with his show's staffers unless he paid the money.
